Bette portrays Alice Gwynn Vanderbilt, the matriarch of the family. Gloria was the subject of sensational custody battle in 1934 that took place in Newport, R,I. The filming took place on Long Island, N.Y.
February 11, 1985- Bette Davis puffs on her cigarette at the Players Club in New York. where she received a D.W. Griffith Award on behalf of the producers of the film, ' A Passage to India'. Bettte, who is 76 recently suffered a stroke and has undergone a masectomy. She is a two time Oscar winner.
